Gobierno de Reconciliación y Unidad Nacional
Unida Nicaragua Triunfa

REMARKS BY NICARAGUA
ON THE PRESENTATION OF THE REPORT
OF THE HUMAN RIGHTS COUNCIL

United Nations General Assembly
New York, October 31st 2025

Madam President,

    1. Nicaragua associates itself with the statement of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, on behalf of the Group of Friends in Defense of the Charter of the United Nations.

    2. The Government of Reconciliation and National Unity of the Republic of Nicaragua raises its clear, firm and sovereign voice to denounce the politicization, selectivity and double standards that have been imposed in relation to the treatment of human rights.

    3. We reject, with absolute forcefulness, the attempts to turn the Human Rights Council into a political tribunal, manipulated by the imperialist and neocolonial powers seeking to use this space as an instrument of domination, extortion and aggression against the free Peoples of the world.

Madam President,

    4. Human rights are universal and indivisible, they are not a privilege reserved for Western countries and their charlatans to abuse, nor are they a militarist tool of those who destroy entire countries under the guise promoting what they call their democracy, before they continue looting the development of the world’s Peoples.

    5. Today, those who speak of human rights are the same ones who have massacred entire peoples, occupied sovereign nations, imposed criminal blockades and plundered natural resources, sowing pain, hunger and destruction.

    6. Nicaragua rejects the very roots of this imperial double standard which purports to judge the free, dignified Peoples of the world, while at the same time supporting modern colonialism, even when faced with its crimes, faced with the genocide against the Palestinian people and wars promoted by the very same ones who proclaim themselves as “defenders of human rights”.

Madam President,

    7. We reject the so-called ”country-specific mandates", selective mechanisms lacking objectivity which violate the Principles of Sovereignty, Equality and Non-interference enshrined in the Charter of the United Nations.

    8. These mechanisms, imposed without the consent of the affected country, are instruments of political interference, created and financed by the very powers that impose unilateral coercive measures, which are true crimes against humanity, violating the economic, social and cultural rights of our Peoples.

    9. The so-called "Groups of Experts on certain Countries" represent neither legitimacy nor truth. They are a farce created by European countries, whose sole objective is to discredit legitimate governments which do not submit to their selfish imperial designs and agendas.

    10. We reject these reports full of lies, distortions and falsehoods, put together with information manipulated by mercenary NGOs, financed by the very same people who, hypocritically and shamelessly, today attempt to set themselves up as guardians of world morality, as if to cure themselves from the effects of their own permanent crimes.

Madam President,

    11. With dignity and sovereignty, Nicaragua continues to advance, without foreign tutelage or impositions, building a Model of Social Justice, Equality, Rights and Peace.

    12. We defend real and concrete human Rights: the Right to Life, Free Health and Education, Decent Work, Housing, Energy, Drinking Water, Security, Development and Self-Determination.

    13. While the powerful countries spend billions on wars, Nicaragua invests in its Free People, in empowered Women, in conscientious Youth, in Indigenous Communities with Rights, in Families that live with Hope and Dignity.

Madam President,

    14. Nicaragua denounces before this Assembly the hypocrisy, arrogance and impunity of US and European imperialism, responsible for the very worst crimes in modern history.

    15. We reject their unilateral coercive measures, their economic blockades, their defamation campaigns, and their attempts to dictate moral lessons to Peoples who choose to be free.

    16. We reaffirm that Sovereignty is non-negotiable, Dignity is not for sale and Independence is to be defended.

    17. Nicaragua calls on the Peoples of the World to reclaim the true meaning of Human Rights: Social Justice, Peace, Solidarity, Cooperation and Mutual Respect.

    18. We call on this Council and this Assembly to break the chains of manipulation, to defend the Truth against institutionalized lies, and to recognize the inalienable Right of each Nation to decide its own Destiny, without threats or impositions.

    19. Nicaragua will continue to raise its voice with courage, with steadfastness and with the strength of its Revolutionary History, defending the Sovereignty, Peace and Dignity of the world’s Peoples.

    20. Because Truth, Justice and Independence are non-negotiable: but to be defended, secured and honored.

Thank you very much.
