REJECTION BY NICARAGUA OF REPORT

Mr. President,
1. The Government of Reconciliation and National Unity of the Republic of Nicaragua reiterates that our country is no longer part of the manipulated, obsolete, interventionist Human Rights Council.
2. We recall that the Third Committee has an essentially social, humanitarian and cultural mandate. This Commission and, therefore, the UN General Assembly, should not be used for the purposes of political instrumentalization nor to promote debates or reports that exceed its mandate and distort its original purpose.
3. Nicaragua denounces the systematic and perverse practice of manipulating human rights as a political weapon, stripping them of their universal essence in order to use them as instruments of domination and imperial interference.
Mr. President,
4. Nicaragua has a dignified, free and unyielding people, who will never submit to blackmail or colonial tutelage, disguised as concerns over human rights.
5. Nicaragua will never accept interference nor allow the promotion and protection of human rights to be manipulated as a pretext to impose imperialist and neocolonialist agendas, contrary to the Charter of the United Nations and the principle of sovereign equality between States.
6. With full historical, moral and political authority, our country rejects any resolution or report lacking legitimacy, such as this misnamed “Human Rights Expert Group on Nicaragua,” designed to invent accusations and justify political aggression against our country.
7. This group, imposed by Western countries and their servants, who have very familiar and long exposed destabilizing political agendas, produces reports based on biased sources and criteria manipulated by individuals and organizations financed by those same countries, with the purpose of distorting our Nation’s reality.
8. This is a prefabricated text committed both to discrediting a People which has chosen to live in sovereignty and to discrediting the progress made by Nicaragua’s people in the promotion and protection of their human rights.
9. This spurious document does not reflect the truth about Nicaragua nor does it include sources of the Nicaraguan State; it therefore lacks legal, ethical and political value, rendering itself merely an aggressive pamphlet with zero authority.
10. We know perfectly well the reason for creating and sustaining this group, as a curtain of fake legitimacy for its promoters to conceal their true agenda: imposing sanctions, unilateral coercive measures and criminal blockades against our People.
11. These measures constitute authentic crimes against humanity and directly violate the human rights of Nicaraguan families, obstructing their Right to Development, Health, Education, Food, Drinking Water and other essential Human Rights.
12. In this report, not a single page reflects the negative impact of these illegal measures against the Nicaraguan people.
13. It is necessary to point out the hypocrisy of Western countries which try to justify how unjustifiable and illegal the unilateral coercive measures which they impose on our free and sovereign Peoples really are.
14. This double standard and the self-same hypocrisy of Western powers is evident in their total support for Israel and the genocide it is carrying out in Palestine. In that case, the Western powers do not impose any unilateral coercive measures. Furthermore, the world bears witness to the inhumane treatment of their anti-migrant policies, result of the racist phobia left over from the genocide they committed against our own original peoples. These Western countries and their charlatan representatives have no moral ethics to be able to talk about human rights, although of course, they have plenty of lip when they need to manipulate them.
15. The silence of the report on this crime against humanity is a complicit silence. If they really wanted to analyze the human rights situation in Nicaragua, they would report using reliable data and sources giving an analysis of this central factor, namely, the economic and financial aggression against Nicaragua.
16. For these and other reasons, this text does not deserve to be taken seriously as a review of human rights. It should be denounced as a propaganda tool at the service of the same geopolitical interests accustomed to imposing collective punishment on developing countries.
Mr. President,
17. The imperialists and neo-colonialists who have sown wars, invasions and genocide on every continent seek to set themselves up as beacons of moral virtue, as undisputed arbiters of human rights and democracy, while covering up and trying to legitimize their own crimes against humanity.
18. We do not take lessons from those without the political and moral authority to give them. Their rhetoric on human rights crumbles when we turn our gaze to their own realities, where we find profound and disturbing contradictions.
Mr. President,
19. Nicaragua speaks with the authority of facts on the ground. In our Nation, human rights are realized and conquered every day in hospitals that save lives, in schools and universities that are open and free for everyone, in decent housing, in highways, drinking water and energy lighting up every community.
20. They are made concrete in the citizen security that guarantees peace, in the productive and social programs that restore rights to women, children, youth, the elderly and to our native and Afro-descendant peoples.
21. This is the truth about Nicaragua: a truth written with work, sacrifice and dignity. We have eradicated illiteracy, decisively confronted extreme poverty and built a social model that puts human dignity, the rights and well-being of Nicaraguan families at its center.
22. These advances belong to the Nicaraguan people, and are beyond the scope of false reports prepared at remote desks by those who have never asked or understood what it really means for our People to live with dignity, freedom and sovereignty.
23. If we are talking about human rights, the first right that must be respected is the right of peoples to live in peace, with sovereignty, dignity and self-determination.
Mr. President,
24. Nicaragua reaffirms its steadfast adherence to the Charter of the United Nations and international law. Our history of struggle has taught us to defend our human right to self-determination and to live free from external aggression.
25. In the face of this disinformation campaign, Nicaragua reaffirms its faithful commitment to the promotion and protection of all the human rights of our People.
26. We will continue on our path towards peace, progress and prosperity, open to genuine international cooperation, based on mutual respect and non-interference, which recognizes and supports our national efforts.
27. We are a Nation of Peace, of Fraternal Solidarity and of Respect among Equals. What we demand is simple and legitimate: that the Sacred Right of Peoples to decide their own destiny be respected, without foreign interference, without tutelage and without extortion.
