Delegates of this event celebrating the 80th anniversary of the founding of the Party,
Beloved citizens of Pyongyang and compatriots living abroad, Beloved friends sharing this holiday with us,
Comrades:
Soon we are going to celebrate the 80th anniversary of the founding of our Party and today we evoke once again those sacred years by treating this historic holiday with all solemnity. In this way, our generation pays the most sublime and sincere tribute to the great founding generation of the Party that brought about momentous change for the destiny of our country and People.
The last eighty years of Korea’s contemporary history led by our Party are characterized by building a prestigious and powerful socialist state in this territory, faithful to the dream and ideal of the People, through genuine continuity and elevation of the ideal and spirit of the initial period of the founding of the party and creating decade after decade the great miracles and transformations that amaze the world.
At this moment of great significance, I would like to express first of all my cordial gratitude to the party delegates who have come to this glorious event with the proud fruits of their extraordinary patriotic enthusiasm and labor struggle. I also wholeheartedly congratulate and encourage all the members of the Party, residents, officers and soldiers of our army who in all latitudes of the country offer their best wishes for success for this event.
I also warmly congratulate the delegates of foreign organizations visiting our nation, including the congratulatory delegations of the General Association of Koreans Living in Japan, the General Association of Koreans Living in China and the International Social Confederation of Koreans, and through them I cordially greet all our compatriots living abroad.
Today's celebratory event was also attended by the heads and personalities of the party and government of various countries and delegates of international democratic organizations who visited Pyongyang in support of our Party and with warm fraternal feelings towards the Korean people.
I welcome the precious friends who share with us feelings of brother and sisterhood celebrating together the significant celebration of our Party.
Colleagues and friends:
The eightieth anniversary of the Workers' Party of Korea shines through the perpetual merits it has realized in that prolonged period for our nation, the People, the era and history.
The constitution of our Party was a political event that announced, in addition to the birth of a political organization in this country, the appearance in history of a new revolutionary party that would ratify the justice of socialism and demonstrate its typical superiority and power.
Since the period of democratic state building, which coincided with the founding of the Party and the beginning of its leadership over all state and social activities, to date, the Workers' Party of Korea has been faithful to its responsibility and role as a locomotive of the revolution and a guide for the implementation of state policy and in this process has achieved feats of great historical relevance.
By leading the social transformations of various stages to victory flying the flag of the Juche idea, our Party has concretized a genuine people's country invested with absolute prestige and power and a power that comprehensively embodies the socialist idea and ideal, as well as having made substantial contributions to the international cause to verify independence and justice.
They were eight very complex and arduous decades, but also dignified and glorious.
Along that course there was a fierce war to repel the armed invasion of the imperialist alliance and safeguard the soil and dignity of the nation, a restoration to rebuild the country oou of the ashes and restart life and also social revolutions that led to fierce class struggle and the elimination of sectarianism within the Party.
Once the socialist system was established, based on the geopolitical considerations resulting from the advanced progress of confrontation between reaction and of socialism with imperialism, we, more and more faithful to the mission of defending ourselves, had to energetically promote the cause of self-defense safeguards, confront with initiative and in an offensive way the economic isolation and strangulation that persisted from one centuryto the next and at the same time promote the colossal work of socialist construction.
In particular, in the midst of the global political upheaval of the 1990s we were forced to preserve our ideology and regime and in the current century to build the nuclear economy and armed forces in parallel faced with the growing US threat of nuclear war and to take a new leap in socialist construction.
Throughout history and in reality, the world knows of no other country forced to simultaneously fulfill the difficult and enormous tasks of defense and construction despite the permanent and persistent pressure, intervention and threat of aggression from external forces.
In fact, under those circumstances in which the mere fact of holding power and defending the system was in itself a miracle, our Party gladly took on all the tasks of the time and wrote a history of secular changes paving a path that no one before had trodden.
Our Party has advanced uninterruptedly on the purposeful orbit of socialism overcoming, in each period and stage, multiple challenges with scientific lines and strategies and on that journey it has successfully realized the historical cause of building a sovereign and powerful State.
The significant events that our Party has recorded in its annals and the amazing changes with which it shortened the time involved exhibit the scientific character and vitality of the revolutionary idea and orientation of the Workers' Party of Korea and reliably show that with them a tremendous and dizzying development has been achieved not only in politics, national defense, economy and culture but also in foreign relations.
For these immortal feats, the Workers' Party of Korea has been awarded the well deserved description of the tried and tested revolutionary Party, the invincible steel Party and the Party that truly serves the people.
All these feats and descriptions are unimaginable without the valuable successes he has achieved in his construction.
Our Party presented, as a fundamental question for the victorious advancement of the revolutionary cause, its ideological identification and organizational unity and that of the Revolution and granted the primary force to its implementation. This was the fundamental factor of the Party’s high command ability and the guarantee of a command both conscientious and consistent.
After the Party was founded, firmly ensuring the unity of ideology and leadership within it was presented as a pressing issue of utmost importance to maintain its revolutionary nature and lead to victory the ambitious social revolution and the whole task of State-building.
Not only in the initial period of the construction of the country but also in the war and post-war, our Party gave priority to implanting Juche in the ideology, arming all the militancy and the people with its guiding ideology and revolutionary lines and strengthening the grassroots organizations. It turned its ranks into elite detachments, enhanced their combativeness and the activity of its organizations at all levels and fought hard against sectarian tendencies, no matter how minimal it was.
Whenever important tasks were presented and difficulties were created in the revolution and its construction, our Party, unshaken by any political storm, maintained ideological purity and organizational integrity by promoting organizational-ideological consolidation and generated radical turns along with booms in socialist construction through its great combativeness and proven leadership.
Its role as the tugboat of the revolution is made possible by its real and concrete leadership.
Our Party actively studied and put into practice the methodology and working traits of mobilizing the revolutionary fervor and creativity of the people to the maximum while solving the problems and overcoming the difficulties faced in the revolutionary and constructive process.
The Party brought the masses together under one banner, inflamed revolutionary and patriotic fervor and made it possible to overcome all difficulties with the strength of collectivism to help and lead each other and mass heroism, and to produce successive innovations and amazing miracles.
As the term of office continued and the generations passed, our Party was always alert and vigilant about the possible emergence of various manifestations among officials such as the outbreak of authoritarianism and the separation of the Party from the masses and tried to ensure that the spirit of unconditional service to the people prevailed throughout its ranks. This decisively influenced the people to trust it invariably and to entrust their destiny to the socialist state.
The struggle that our Party waged holding the flag of independence and socialism in defiance of diverse difficulties and trials made an exceptional contribution to the common cause of humanity for justice and peace.
The example set by our Party with full confidence in the rightness of the socialist cause and the inevitability of its victory and its irrefutable proof, both theoretically and practically, of the scientific veracity of its ideal, largely stopped anti-socialist machinations and contributed in an outstanding way to the solidarity and alliance of the progressive forces of the world.
Today, the intransigence of our Party and Government in the observance of the principle and its courageous and forceful reaction to the brutal political and military pressure of enemy countries increase the progressive bloc that opposes war and hegemony. With the passage of time, our Republic has elevated its position in the international arena as a faithful member of the socialist forces and an impregnable bastion of independence and justice.
Colleagues and friends,
The cause of a victorious party has a key that serves as its foundation.
In short, the Party has shared everything with its great People.
The history of the People, the history that has relied on the strength of the People, this is the key to all the victories and glories of our Party.
That story is the best mouthpiece of our Party's eight decades. The key to the Party's history of uninterrupted orientation and its immortal feat can be explained with the greatest impartiality only with this formula of eternal duration: "With the People".
To have raised in the first days of its foundation a red flag that embodies its ideal and determination to build an authentic world of the People was the first giant step that our Party took with the People and the demonstration of its enormous strength.
The flag of our Party with the image of its People is not at all to be taken lightly, because it takes responsibility for their destiny, it shows them the way to the truth at all times, arms them with irresistible force and embodies the inexhaustible intelligence and creativity of that people that advocates their advancement towards the future.
If our Party has not incurred any deviation or error in its guidelines throughout its 80 years, it is because it has collected the will and demand of the People. And if he has achieved an incessant ascent, without getting discouraged or stopping for a moment, we owe it to the intelligence and strength of the People who are his engine.
Because it has pulled through history thanks to the will and strength of the people, all the revolutionary struggle and construction work that it has resolutely carried out have become those of the People and have culminated successfully.
All the important events that guarantee the eternal victory and success of our cause are played by the entire People of this country, the great Korean People, which includes our heroic workers, farmers and intellectuals.
Today, our people have emerged before the world as a powerful entity capable of overcoming all difficulties and achieving all works.
The 80 years of our Party's mandate, in which it has paved a previously unexplored path by uniting the desire, the will and the strength with the People and in which it has realized the ideal of power with the People and fused itself with them, teaching a truth to time and history: A Party rooted in the People and not above them, a Party that has the same aspiration and desire as them, unites intelligence and strength with them and shares the joys and sorrows with them, does not disintegrate nor ever lose its vividness and verve.
Our Party cannot exist without its People and it is great because the People is also great. This was, is and will continue to be a great unshakable truth.
I would like to thank once again our great People who, during these long eighty years in which they have paved the way for the arduous but sacred socialist cause, have given strength and intelligence to our Party, have trusted with it in victory and have given it their immaculate soul and their industriousness.
Comrades:
In these significant moments, I read again in the eyes of the people, with all my being, the unlimited trust and hope that figures in our Party.
Counting on you to unconditionally support and follow the Party's decision, overcoming all the difficulties, our Party has full confidence in what it is doing and is firmly convinced of the triumph.
If we work hard for a few years with today's impetus, it is quite possible to noticeably transform our life with our own hands and get closer to our ideal goal.
Taking advantage of this opportunity, I swear to you that I will always keep in mind the duty of corresponding to the People, treasuring love for them, and that I will work harder not to fail their trust.
Trusting in the People who support our Party and always united monolithically with the People, I will work to make this country richer and more beautiful and I will work to build the best socialist paradise in the world.
Comrades:
The glorious 80-year history of our Party encourages and impels us to a more dignified and far-reaching struggle.
Let us move forward redoubling our courage and faith for the balance of another great history that will be still more glorious and worthy than these eight decades that the Party and the people began in one body and with one soul and adorned with victory, and for the definitive culmination of the socialist cause that will make the dream and ideal of our People come true.
In conclusion, I wish peace and well-being to our beloved People.
