Statement of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Islamic Republic of Iran on the US military aggression against Iran's peaceful nuclear facilities

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Islamic Republic of Iran strongly condemns the brutal military aggression of the United States against Iran's peaceful nuclear facilities, which took place in clear and unprecedented violation of the fundamental principles of the UN Charter and international law. It also considers that the warmongering and law-breaking regime of the United States of America is fully responsible for the dangerous consequences and far-reaching implications of this heinous act of aggression and abhorrent crime.
The US military aggression against the territorial integrity and national sovereignty of a UN member state - carried out in collusion with the genocidal Israeli regime - shows once again the depth of the depravity that governs US foreign policy and reveals the degree of hostility harbored by the American establishment towards the Iranian people who are lovers of peace and defenders of their independence.
The Islamic Republic of Iran defends its right to resist the US military aggression and the crimes of an attacking regime, and at the same time defends its security and national interests.
The US attack on Iran's peaceful nuclear facilities, which took place in the early hours of the tenth day of the Israeli military aggression against Iran, has unequivocally exposed Washington's criminal complicity with the Zionist regime in orchestrating and conducting the war against Iran.
This act of aggression, perpetrated by a permanent member of the Security Council, against Iran's peaceful nuclear facilities constitutes not only a flagrant violation of the Charter of the United Nations - especially the prohibition of the use of force referred to in Article 2(4) and the obligation to respect the territorial integrity and sovereignty of States - but also a violation of UN Security Council Resolution 2231 and a devastating blow to the global non-proliferation regime.
Silence in the face of such blatant aggression would plunge the world into an unprecedented level of danger and chaos. The Islamic Republic of Iran reminds the United Nations, the Security Council, the UN Secretary General, the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) and other relevant international bodies of their responsibility to take urgent and decisive measures in response to this appalling violation of international law.
As a founding member of the United Nations, the Islamic Republic of Iran calls on this Organization and its responsible member States to comply with their obligations in the face of the unilateral, illegal and brazen acts of the United States.
We urge the UN Security Council to convene an emergency session to unequivocally condemn the aggressive criminal act of the United States, making it take responsibility for its outrageous violation of the fundamental principles of the UN Charter and the norms of international law.
The responsibility of the IAEA and its Director General - who, through an obvious bias in favor of the warmongering parties, paved the way for this recent catastrophe is now clearer than ever. We call on the IAEA Board of Governors to meet immediately and fulfill its legal responsibility in the face of this dangerous American attack on Iran's peaceful nuclear facilities, all of which are under full safeguards and supervision of this Body.
The world should not forget that it was the United States who, in the midst of a diplomatic process, betrayed diplomacy by supporting the genocidal Israeli regime, and currently, continuing to violate the rules and accompany the crimes of the Zionist regime, has unleashed a dangerous war against the Iranian nation.
Now it has become completely clear to everyone that a country, which enjoys permanent membership in the UN Security Council, does not respect any principles or ethics, and in order to serve the goals of a genocidal and occupying regime, does not refrain from any illegal or criminal actions.
