10th Emergency Special Session on Palestine

General Assembly
Mr. President,
1. Nicaragua associates itself with the speeches made by Uganda for the Non-Aligned Movement and Venezuela of the Group of Friends in Defense of the Charter of the United Nations.
2. Nicaragua raises its voice and joins in the cry for truth, justice and dignity. As a sovereign, free nation and as a people who have resisted imperial aggression, we refuse to remain silent in the face of the genocide being committed today against our Palestinian brothers and sisters.
3. The worsening situation in Palestine requires our full attention and solidarity. Our peoples must reject the veto in the Security Council that allows the violation of international law and the impunity of Israel's actions. When a child dies under the rubble in Gaza, part of humanity also dies. We cannot allow barbarism to become normalized, much less accept that killing and bombing children is in self-defense.
4. What Palestine is experiencing is not a war, it is an extermination. It is a systematic project of colonization, ethnic cleansing and apartheid, executed by the Zionist regime of Israel, and supported by the protection of the United States, which has vetoed time and again any resolution that tries to stop this massacre.
5. State terrorism and the pain suffered by Palestine is promoted with words, weapons, money and vetoes. He has shielded the aggressor and has condemned the Palestinian people to death, starvation, exile and now they seek to impose oblivion.
Mr. President,
6. This Assembly must continue to demand a permanent, unconditional, verifiable ceasefire that puts an end to the massacre and guarantees unrestricted humanitarian aid access.
7. Nicaragua denounces the criminal blockade against Gaza as a form of collective punishment prohibited by international law. We demand its immediate lifting. Hunger cannot be a weapon of war. Thirst cannot be a military strategy.
8. As long as the illegal occupation of all Palestinian territories continues, land is stolen, homes are destroyed, families are displaced, there will be no peace or stability in the Middle East.
9. Nicaragua reiterates its firm and unwavering support for the two-State solution as the only viable path to a just and lasting peace. We support the independent, sovereign and fully recognized State of Palestine, with East Jerusalem as its capital, based on the pre-1967 borders, in accordance with international law and the relevant United Nations resolutions.
10. This position is not new. It's a matter of principle. It's a question of justice. And it is a historical debt of this Organization to the Palestinian people, who cannot continue to be the victim of empty promises while being bled dry in silence.
11. We salute with respect and admiration the heroic resistance of the Palestinian people. Their struggle is not only for their land, it is for the dignity of all the Peoples of the world. It is for freedom from colonialism, racism and occupation.
12. We reject any attempt to justify heinous crimes under the pretext of security or defense. No act can legitimize the systematic massacre of an entire population. The collective punishment imposed on the Palestinian people, which has claimed tens of thousands of innocent lives, constitutes a crime against humanity that this Assembly cannot continue to ignore.
Mr. President,
13. The General Assembly must act. We cannot allow the Security Council to remain hostage to the veto. This Assembly is the people's house. And the peoples have spoken clearly: Palestine must be free.
14. Everywhere, the peoples of the world have risen up with one voice. The collective conscience has awakened in the face of injustice and demands an immediate end to the aggression. Millions are crying out for respect for life, for an end to the genocide, for the right of the Palestinian people to live in dignity, freedom and peace.
15. Nicaragua, consistent with its principles, has supported and co-sponsored this humanitarian resolution that demands an immediate ceasefire, the protection of the Palestinian people and respect for international law.
