Beloved families of this so very blessed Nicaragua, overflowing, living our hopes, building and cherishing Peace every day, celebrating very much the joy of living peacefully, living securely and of working for prosperity.
This is our Nicaragua, blessed, always sovereign, forever free, and in a world like the one we live in today, Peace what a blessing, Peace what a treasure, Peace what a privilege, Peace what an honor. Because we are a people of honor and glory, and the Peace we have defended so much, that peace for which so many, hundreds of thousands of Nicaraguans have given their lives throughout our history, is our honorable heritage, our glorious heritage, and the fruit of our great spirit.
Because after all one wonders: how does such a small country manage to have so much, such very much vigor? Nicaragua “is made of vigor and glory, and it is made for freedom" for humanity, to shine out. Nicaragua shines out and we feel, not vain or conceited, not vain and arrogant, not condescending... We feel proud in the most humble sense of the word, because we have been able, from the great spirit that God has given us, to strengthen every day, even in the midst of the catastrophes that we have had to live through, of all kinds, catastrophes natural, so-called, and human, generated by hatred and ambition.
But even in the midst of these catastrophes, we have known how to act with dignity, we have known how to be great, we have known how to show our great spirit, we have known how to be Christian, socialist, inspired by solidarity, revolutionaries and evolutionists. That is why we say, beyond any conceit or redundant vanity, what we recognize is the love of God above all things, and the love between us, which is what makes Peace prevail such that our union is becoming stronger and stronger, a stronger reality of genuine truths. Because without love, without faith, without hope, without union, how could we move forward to the future that we all want...
Security, work, peace, progress, prosperity, and that is how we make our way, recognizing in that humble everyday step by step, the improvement in our lives, and too, creating more improvement, that is, progress, as we have already said; that is, prosperity.
In these December days, when we have so much for which to thank the heavenly Father, the son, our Jesus Christ, prince of love, of peace, the Holy Spirit, our mother Mary, in this December we are ever more aware of the privilege of living in this blessed patriotic Nation, in this Nation that is becoming more and more one of all Nicaraguans of good will, of Nicaragua's families, Nicaragua's youth, Nicaragua's women, the elderly, our grandparents. And it is what we ask of God and our Mother Mary, every day, to cultivate good hope, goodwill, everything that makes us united, strengthening affection, harmony, concord, and tranquility, which is security.
The most important thing, I think, is the confidence we have in ourselves, as the People of Nicaragua, in a Government of the People, which is building the future we all want, because we owe it to ourselves, to the People and we know that our main privilege is to be honored by being able to serve from all the spaces of government, from all the spaces of the State, to serve our People, to serve all its families.
It is indeed an honor for us to have the possibility of serving the People in every sphere of activity, social, cultural, economic and political, because that is what we are for and that is why the Nicaraguan families have honored us: to defend Peace, protect Peace, to create more and more security all of us together, affirming that we are the people of God who make our way as sisters and brothers, in a great fraternity.
What a luxury to live in a country of family and community, of brothers and sisters, a country which for centuries has been building, through its courage, the Peace that we have now and which must ensure every day. Centuries of courage, centuries of knowing how to defend what is ours; centuries in which we have not known cowardice, or hesitation; centuries in which we have known, with the strength that God gives us, to say: that we are Nicaraguans, by God's grace, and that of our mother Mary, a most beautiful devotion, unique, really unique in the world.
We are Nicaraguans, by the grace of God, and we do not let anyone try to dominate or conquer us, and that can only be through trust in the heavenly Father and the certainty that we are blessed with a great heart, a great soul, a spirit devoted to struggling to improve life, and to building the victories of the future.
After all, what do we want, what are we talking about? When we say victories, what do we mean? To advance against poverty towards one world, one country, one dream of equity, fraternity, Peace, harmonious coexistence, contented families, families who trust not only in each other, but also this model which gives us all the protagonism in the present, and protagonism for creating the future.
In these days in which we are seeing so much pain, so much suffering, so much turmoil, because that is life, in the world of so many risks, always our Nicaragua invokes the God of all triumphs, invokes that sacred obligation for all our Peoples to respect each other; invoking the knowledge, the cultures, the traditions, the wisdom of the Peoples, and saying: Let us show respect! Let us be respectful!
Never let us be interventionists, and never let us promote interference in any situation which requires us to show respect in every way, for all the Peoples of the world.
We offer these few words precisely on this issue of respect for the right of peoples to live in security, tranquility, in their own ways, to make their own decisions, and above all to protect the values, the sacred, fundamental interests of humanity.
