Opening words of declarations by Rosario, Vice President of Nicaragua,
in the midday edition of Multinoticias, Canal 4
November 4th 2024

A very good afternoon, compañera. Good afternoon, beloved Families of our Blessed, Dignified, Sovereign Nation. Always Further on, this Patriotic Nation of Ours, of our General of Free Men and Women, Augusto Sandino.
57 years ago today, on November 4th 1967, the Sandinista Heroes, Casimiro Sotelo, Hugo Medina, Edmundo ”El Chino" Pérez and Roberto Amaya, were massacred by the genocidal Somoza Guard, when they were staying in a safe house as Glorious Militants and Combatants, in the Monseñor Lezcano neighborhood of Managua.
Glorious Militants and Combatants of the Sandinista National Liberation Front, ever more Victorious we say today, and we say it from our Vigorous Sandinista Popular Revolution, from our one and only Sandinista National Liberation Front, in its Strategy of Incorruptible Force, of the Sun of Freedom, of Uncompromising Struggle, and of Never Backing Down.
There, among all the Miracles and Prodigies of this Forever Heroic and Combative People, the People of General Sandino, they were born... These four Heroes, who there gave their Lives in that Unique Strategy as well, of Insurmountable Strength, of the Suns of Freedom, of Light, of Uncompromising Struggle, Never Backing Down!
There too we were born, with Casimiro, with Hugo, with Edmundo, with Roberto, they, who live on and live today in every corner of our Nicaragua, where they meet and unite with this Noble, Most Courageous People, our People, because we are like them, Children of this Brave, Blessed, Forever Free, Forever Dignified, Forever Sovereign Nation.
This Nicaragua that knows so very well about Honorable, Triumphant Struggles, this Blessed Nicaragua that has given birth to so many Heroes, Heroes of such stature, and to so many hundreds of thousands if not millions of Nicaraguans, who with our Nobility, Integrity, Lucidity and irrevocable Commitment to our Nation, to Freedom, we have sustained and continue to sustain, we have defended and continue to defend, we have protected and we continue to protect, in fact we enhance, the Great Impressive Dignity of our Nicaragua.
Casimiro, Hugo, Edmundo, Roberto, are reflected in that immortal Poem by Pablo Neruda dedicated to our Sandino, when he wrote :
“... Sandino rushed forth and waited,
Sandino was the night that came falling
and he was the light of the sea that drowned them,
(killing all those blond looters)
Sandino was a tower decked with banners,
his was a gun that smoked with Hope.
And the lessons he taught were very different,
from the one thing they learned at West Point
where no one ever taught them the class
about the one killing also being killed:
the North Americans have not learned
(“they never learn” we say today)
that we love our impoverished, beloved land
and we will defend those banners
with all the pain and love that made them.
They didn't learn that in Philadelphia,
but they found out with their blood in Nicaragua:
there, where the People's Captain awaited them:
Augusto Sandino...”
and like all of us, his children, all the Heroes of this Great Patriotic Nation, his name was Augusto Sandino
"And in this song his name remains
great as an arching flare
giving us light, giving us fire
to continue the battles.”
Because Sandino Lives On, Compañeras and Compañeros, like Casimiro, Hugo, Edmundo, Roberto, and the Struggles Go On! While Sandino with his Song gives us Light, gives us Fire, to continue all the Battles... The Battles for Peace, the Battles for Security, the Battles for a Good Life, for Well-being, the Battles against Poverty, in this Your Nicaragua.
And after 40 Years of Memorable and Unyielding Struggles, and in the Always Further On that we are, we commemorate the Triumph of the Sandinista National Liberation Front, on November 4th 1984, in the First Free Elections in the History of our Nicaragua, marking the Pace and the Course of the Direct Democracy conquered by the Nicaraguan People as Protagonists along with the Sandinista Front on July 19th 1979, in the imperishable feat of the Triumph of the People of Zeledón, Sandino, Andrés, Carlos, Tomás, of Daniel.
That Triumph which has set us free from all yokes, opening up New Times of Light, Life and Truth, of Liberation and Democracy, as we said, Direct and Full, True Democracy; the Democracy that today we are exercising with more and more Strength, grateful for so many Blessings, and above all, for the daily Miracle of the Cohesive, Combative, Courageous, Fighting Spirit of every Dignified Nicaraguan, such that We are Moving Onward along Paths of True Love, of Justice and of Complete Identity and Identification with the Values of Democracy as the Power of the People, the People who today are President.
We very much appreciate the message of President Nicolás Maduro via our beloved Compañero Yván Gil, Foreign Minister of that Beloved, Sister, Bolivarian Venezuela.
They have extended Greetings and Congratulations to us on the occasion of this very important Celebration, the 40th Anniversary of the Electoral Triumph of the Sandinista National Liberation Front on November 4th 1984, always embattled and invariably under all the pressures and with all the interference we have contended with throughout our history; that interference of which now we are ridding ourselves with the Strength of Dignity.
And our Venezuelan Compañeras and Compañeros tell us that this Milestone marked the History of Nicaragua and ushered in a New Era of Self-determination and Social Justice for the Nicaraguan People.
We have the data here: We won, despite all the Yankee interference, we won with 67% for Comandante Daniel... The first Free, Truly Democratic Election in our Nicaragua, amidst all the Yankee interference all the time.
In second place came the Conservative Democratic Party of Nicaragua, Dr. Clemente Guido Chávez with 14%, and then the Independent Liberal Party, Dr. Virgilio Godoy with 9.6%.
Also participating were the Christian Social Popular Party, Mauricio Díaz; the Communist Party of Nicaragua, Alan Zambrana; the Nicaraguan Socialist Party, Domingo Sánchez Salgado; and the Marxist-Leninist Popular Action Movement Party, Isidro Téllez Toruño. On instructions from the United States, the Nicaraguan Democratic Coordination, headed by Don Arturo Cruz Porras, withdrew from this Election.
This is the History, the History of Interference, but also the History of the Dignity and Courage of our People, who made their Choice, despite the dismay of those who were dismayed, but they made their Choice and the Sandinista Front and Comandante Daniel won with 67%... The People won, we won, and we are going Forward. And we know that for sure.
And from those Victories representing so much Brilliance, so much Struggle, so much Courage, so much Dignity, We are Going Onward, along the Paths of Peace and Goodness, defending Peace, and building the Future we all want, free of Poverty. So let them leave us in Peace, because our People defend Peace, because we deserve to live in Peace and Security, building our Country as the Nicaraguan People have decided to build it: via Direct Democracy and free from Poverty.
