Gobierno de Reconciliación y Unidad Nacional
Unida Nicaragua Triunfa
MESSAGE OF THE GOVERNMENT OF RECONCILIATION AND NATIONAL UNITY
OF THE REPUBLIC OF NICARAGUA AT THE FIRST MEETING
OF THE GLOBAL ALLIANCE TO IMPLEMENT THE TWO-STATE SOLUTION
Mr. President,
Dear Representatives of the Countries joining us in this meeting,
1. From this Blessed and Forever Free Nicaragua, allow me to offer fraternal greetings of the President of the Republic of Nicaragua, Comandante Daniel Ortega Saavedra, of Vice President Compañera Rosario Murillo Zambrana, of the Government of Reconciliation and National Unity, as well as of all the People of Nicaragua.
2. We also take this opportunity to express our deep gratitude, respect and appreciation to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, its Authorities, His Majesty King Salman bin Abdulaziz, Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, and His Highness Prince Mohammed bin Salman, Crown Prince and Prime Minister, for hosting this meeting. May God bless you and grant you health, peace and well-being.
3. Nicaragua participates in this space, with great hope and optimism, trusting that it will mark the beginning of a definitive solution to the conflict and thus achieve the foundation of the Palestinian State.
4. Today we are gathered to address a cause of a political, humanitarian and justice nature, which demands our defense with the utmost seriousness. We are tired now of double standards; it is clear what is allowed and what is forbidden.
5. We are not here to talk about a solution for refugees; we are here to talk about them returning to their nation. Therefore, we should talk about return, and not about a solution, since deporting and killing them is considered a solution, and therefore the term return should be used instead of solution. Our purpose should be to ensure the return of refugees to their nation, and not to look for other terms to hide the true objective.
6. In the face of the crimes against humanity that the whole world has witnessed and continues to witness, silence must be interpreted as a form of complicity. But not only is silence complicity, Nicaragua denounces and condemns the governments that continue to finance this genocide, those enabling countries that every day decide to deliver more and more weapons so that the Palestinian People continue to be killed.
7. Our positions must be unambiguously defined: either we are on the side of the rights of the Palestinian people and the establishment of their free and independent State, or we continue to foment a war of extermination. For Nicaragua, this issue is clear and we will always support the struggle of the Palestinian People in their unquestionable right to Independence, Sovereignty and Self-determination.
8. We extend our respect to the Palestinian Authority, which has given its best, has made sacrifices and has accepted divisions of its land so that others could inhabit it, like someone who divides their house in two, reserving one half for the guest. Sadly, the guest has usurped the entire house, leaving the original family bereft. It is a clear example of how generosity sometimes confronts ingratitude.
9. The Palestinian position was born from the commitment to find a comprehensive, just and definitive solution to the conflict with Israel, adhering to all agreements in this framework.
10. There is no justification whatsoever for any member State of the United Nations to postpone its recognition of the Palestinian State, especially considering the international resolutions that reaffirm a two-state solution and have a practically global consensus.
11. Silence in the face of the injustices and crimes committed against the Palestinian people is a form of complicity and betrayal of the principles of humanity.
12. The two-state solution is already an international requirement by virtue of laws, customs and global legitimacy. It is unsustainable to continue ignoring this situation, and history will remember with shame those who contributed to the suffering of the Palestinian people for almost eight decades, remaining silent in the face of the moral, political and human injustices that affect them. Nicaragua will continue its condemnation in all spaces and raise its voice in a firm and unwavering way, against the brutal genocide that is being committed against the Palestinian People.
13. To remain silent and look the other way in the face of these massacres is in itself a crime. What are we waiting for? Are the thousands of victims of children, women and men and almost one and a half million displaced people not enough to defend justice and put an end to the suffering of the Palestinian people? Does it take more pain for us to wake up? It is time to express our unequivocal support for a Palestinian state. To continue in silence would be a disgrace before God and humanity.
14. The existence and independence of the State of Palestine cannot be postponed any longer. Nicaragua firmly supports the establishment of a Free, Sovereign, Independent Palestinian State with full Self-determination, in accordance with the resolutions of international legitimacy, with the 1967 borders and East Jerusalem as its capital.
15. We must not allow a single State Israel to manipulate international legitimacy and put international peace and security at risk. It is time to define clear positions and to move away from double standards on issues of justice and self-determination.
16. The Palestinian cause has gone far beyond any limits of humanity and ethics for more than 80 years, and our inaction makes us accomplices. It is time to put an end to this tragedy, or else we will continue to contribute to this suffering.
Thank you Very Much.
