NOTE TO THE UNITED NATIONS
NICARAGUA IS SOLIDARITY!
The Permanent Mission of Nicaragua to the United Nations presents its compliments to the office of the Secretary-General of the United Nations and has the honor of referring to recent statements by the Ambassador of the State of Israel to Costa Rica and the Israeli Consul in that same Country. In these statements, these Israeli officials affirm that there is now a terrorist base in Nicaragua which is being used as a platform for terrorism in the region.
In this regard, Nicaragua rejects such statements, which aim to divert attention from the genocide being carried out by Israel in the Occupied Palestinian territories, its flagrant violations of international humanitarian law, as well as its systematic crimes against humanity and war crimes that are the result of a policy of State terrorism.
Nicaragua, in firm compliance with its international obligations, has severed relations with the State of Israel, as well as requesting to participate in the case initiated by the Republic of South Africa for violations in the Gaza Strip of the Convention on the Prevention and Punishment of the Crime of Genocide and is taking other legal actions by way of contributing to stopping the genocide of the Palestinian People and ending Israel's illegal occupation, as confirmed by the International Court of Justice in its two advisory opinions.
Nicaragua wishes to point out to the Secretary-General and the member states that the escalation of Israeli statements against Nicaragua are unacceptable attempts to discredit the timely, legal actions which Nicaragua is carrying out in defense of International Law and the Charter of the United Nations. The Government and the People of Nicaragua will remain firm in the fulfillment of their international obligations and in the sovereign exercise of their rights to maintain international relations with the Governments and Peoples of the world in conditions of Equality and Solidarity.
The Permanent Mission of Nicaragua to the United Nations reiterates to the office of the Secretary-General of the United Nations the tokens of its highest esteem and requests that this note be circulated as an official document.
