General debate of the Second Committee on Sustainable Development and Economic Affairs

Thank you very much,
Mr. President,
1. Allow us to express to you and the members of the Bureau our congratulations on your election, we know that under your leadership and with the members of the bureau, the matters entrusted to this commission will be very successful, the Delegation of Nicaragua expresses its support and cooperation.
2. We support the statement of the Ugandan Delegation, on behalf of the G77+China, and wish to make some comments in our national capacity.
3. Developing countries continue to work on sustainable and innovative solutions to achieve the sustainable development goals in the midst of multiple economic, environmental, social crises and other new emerging challenges that arise every day.
4. The ravages of climate change continue to worsen, global warming is on track to exceed 1.5C, and atmospheric phenomena are increasingly extreme and intense, with catastrophic consequences on people's livelihoods, especially those of the most impoverished.
5. Concrete results are urgently needed to preserve and defend the Right to Life on our Mother Earth, based on the principle of Common but Differentiated Responsibilities, with Climate Justice and the indispensable Reparations Policy, converted into direct, unconditional cooperation, especially towards the most sensitive countries, has to become a reality. This includes compliance with the commitments made under the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC), the Kyoto Protocol and the Paris Agreement, which make up the only International Climate Framework.
6. The financial resources for official assistance promised by developed countries have to materialize so as to provide sufficient resources for actions on Adaptation, Mitigation, Loss and Damage, capacity building, technology transfer as well as conservation and sustainability in the face of climate change.
7. South-South Cooperation and Triangular Cooperation are necessary tools since they contribute to the fulfillment of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development; while affirming that these modalities constitute a complement but not a substitute for North-South Cooperation, which should be guided by the principles of solidarity, joint participation, consensus, equity, mutual responsibility, reciprocity, non-interference and non-conditionality.
8. We must move towards a new global order and a multipolar world with equitable, supportive, transparent actions and agreements, as well as rebuild trust in multilateralism through inclusion and continue working to strengthen and guarantee peace and security at the global level.

9. The programs for the fulfillment of the 2030 Agenda, with the implementation of the Sustainable Development Goals, especially for the eradication of poverty, are undermined by the imposition of illegal unilateral coercive measures imposed by imperialist and neocolonialist countries.
10. More than 40 countries and more than a third of the world's population suffer the negative impacts of the imposition of these illegal terrorist measures every day, which must be eliminated, since they are obstacles and prevent access to loans and viable projects in International Financial Institutions for developing countries that implement the 2030 Agenda, especially the eradication of poverty.

11. Our Government of Reconciliation and National Unity, through the National Plan for the Struggle Against Poverty and for Human Development 2022-2026, has been constituted as a guiding instrument of public management, it contains transformative policies, strategies and actions ratifying the route of economic growth together with the defense and restitution of the rights of Nicaraguan families, along with reduction of poverty and inequalities.
12. Finally, Nicaragua reaffirms its commitment to our Development Model focused on the reduction of poverty and inequality, on multilateralism, international law and on the affirmation, exercise and defense of our sovereignty, and too on relations of equality, based on friendship, mutual respect, cooperation and solidarity.
