OUR CENTRAL AMERICAN PEOPLES
ALWAYS UNITED AND IN SOLIDARITY
(Opening remarks by Compañera Rosario Murillo today, Friday, June 28th 2024)
A very good afternoon, Compañera. Good afternoon, Beloved Families of our Blessed Nicaragua, our Hard Working Nicaragua, Combative, Pathbreaking, making our way as we go, advancing along our Way.
Here we are, today, June 28th remembering and commemorating, together with the Brotherly People of Honduras, that fateful Coup d'État, here, in another Central American Country, against the Legitimate President of that Country, Compañero and Brother Mel Zelaya Rosales who was arrested in his pajamas and left in Costa Rica.
And when we remember that fateful date and the violent rupture of Democracy and Democratic Process, we also remember what the Central American Union has been, the Union of our Peoples, around the Struggles we have waged, throughout our history, against all forms of interference.
Let us remember that Central America was united waging the Battle against the Yankee filibuster, and let us remember those days in June, 15 years ago, when the Honduran People were here, their President was received here, many Fellow Ministers were received here, and the current President of that Fraternal Country, Compañera Xiomara Castro de Zelaya, was received here.
We welcome everyone here with Central American Brother and Sisterhood and Love in the Struggle for Democracy and the Peace that our Peoples deserve. We have worked together, and we feel close, very close, building the Future and, above all, taking steps forward in the Fight against Poverty via the Mechanisms of Union or Integration of the Central American Peoples, Countries and Governments.
Our greetings to President Xiomara, to Compañero Mel, our Greetings to all those Heroic People who fought decisive Battles to recover their Democracy.
Well, this Weekend too we will be receiving the Pro Tempore Presidency of SICA, from our Brothers and Sisters in Honduras, who have had it and hold it until July 1st, and we will be setting out to advance a Program and Plan of Work for greater Unity among the Central American Peoples in the Struggle for Well-being, for Stability, for Prosperity, for Work, for Security. There is so much we must do in response to the demands of our Peoples.
Central America is a Region that should be one of Peace, Development, Security and Stability, because that is what our Peoples and Families, of each Country and of the entire Region, where we are together, geographically together, demand, require, we demand it, we require it, we need it, to live and work Together, United and strengthened by the Consciousness of our Central American Brother and Sisterhood. Darío sang in honor of Central America's Union, the Immense Rubén Darío.
Proud, then, of our Cultural, Social and Environmental Heritage, which we have to protect and defend against all the assaults of Climate Change... To work, setting out to work together, to overcome, to transcend the challenges, and to advance more and more in terms of Security, seeking that Tranquility and Working in Tranquility, as Central America's Families deserve.
