Gobierno de Reconciliación y Unidad Nacional
Unida Nicaragua Triunfa

COMMUNIQUÉ
The Government of Reconciliation and National Unity of the Republic of Nicaragua supports the following consensus reached between the People's Republic of China and the Federal Republic of Brazil on the Political Solution of the Crisis in Ukraine:
1. We call on all related parties to respect three principles for the de-escalation of the situation, namely, no enlargement of the battlefield, no escalation of fighting and no provocations by any side.
2. We believe that dialogue and negotiation are the only viable solution to the Ukraine crisis. All parties should create conditions for the resumption of direct dialogue and promote the de-escalation of the situation until a comprehensive ceasefire is achieved. We support holding an International Peace Conference at the appropriate time, recognized by both Russia and Ukraine, with equal participation of all parties and a fair discussion of all peace plans.
3. Efforts are needed to increase humanitarian assistance to the relevant regions and prevent a greater humanitarian crisis. Attacks against civilians or civilian facilities must be avoided, and civilians, including women, children and prisoners of war, must be protected. We support the exchange of prisoners of war between the parties to the conflict.
4. The use of weapons of mass destruction, in particular nuclear weapons and chemical and biological weapons, should be opposed and every effort should be made to prevent nuclear proliferation and avert a nuclear crisis.
5. Attacks on nuclear power plants and other nuclear facilities for peaceful purposes must be opposed. All parties must comply with International Law, including the Convention on Nuclear Safety, and resolutely prevent man-made nuclear accidents.
6. We must oppose the division of the world into isolated political or economic blocs. We call for efforts to strengthen international cooperation on energy, currency, finance, trade, food security and critical infrastructure security, including oil and gas pipelines, submarine optical cables, electrical and energy facilities and fiber optic networks, to protect the stability of global industrial and supply chains.
