NATIONAL DIGNITY
A FREE NATION OR DEATH
Together with the Dignified and Courageous People of Nicaragua we celebrate this Day, which is a Day of Redemption, of Resurgence, of Rebirth, of Liberation from the imperialist yoke, a Day that magnifies the Honor and Glory of every Nicaraguan who loves his Nation and defends it, in all its Integrity and its Rights.
We celebrate this Day in Unity for the Common Good. In Splendid Hopes and Certainties, because the NO to submission, that Great and Brave NO of Sandino, General of Free Men and Women, meaning NO to submission and dishonor, is the NO that shone in Zeledón, Andrés, the NO of Carlos, Tomás, Daniel, and of all our National Heroes who always gave of themselves out of Love, and from that Formidable and Incorruptible Force, dismissing and ignoring cowardice, hesitation or betrayal, we are a People that fights, that knows how to Fight, and knows how to Overcome.
Rebellion, the Indomitable Heart and Soul of Sandino is our Character and National Pride, and marks our Unshakable Anti-imperialist Conviction, expressed and ratified as a Flag and Shield of National Dignity: “I don’t sell out, nor do I surrender; I want a Free Nation or Death.”
We repeat the Glorious Words contained in the brave Message of our General Sandino to the Yankee invader, Colonel Gilbert Hatfield :
"I received your communication yesterday and I understand it. I will not surrender and I await you here. I want a free nation or death. I am not afraid of you; I count on the ardor of the patriotism of those who accompany me. Nationhood and Freedom.”
As Sandinista Combatants, in these Times of Peace and Victories, which are undoubtedly the fruit of our National Dignity, we ratify in the Always Further On, Ever Evolving, that we make our way in the Plenitude of Life towards the Sun of Freedom and that our Fierce, Indomitable Spirit continues to rebel against all the forms and every pretense at domination by the Imperialists of the Earth.
Here Peace shines out, and here with our Heroic and Sublime Spirituality, we are the Dignified, Free and Proud Children of Sandino and his radiant NO, which resonates in our Souls and our Consciences, illuminated by a Great and Admirable Future.
