MESSAGE FROM THE DELEGATION OF NICARAGUA TO THE HUMAN RIGHTS COUNCIL;
INTERACTIVE DIALOGUE ON THE REPORT OF THE GROUP OF EXPERTS ON NICARAGUA

29th February, 2024

Your Excellency Mr. Omar Zniber, President of the United Nations Human Rights Council,

Representatives of the Member States, Representatives of International Organizations and Observers.

Ladies and Gentlemen of the so-called “Group of Human Rights Experts on Nicaragua”.

The Government of Reconciliation and National Unity reliably reiterates its position regarding these Groups that call themselves "Human Rights Experts", since the inputs they take for their reports are from criteria manipulated by a group of people, who are financed, precisely to distort the reality of our country.

These groups have a defined agenda framed in guidelines imposed by imperial powers, whose sole purpose is to denature the advances that the Nicaraguan People have achieved in terms of Human Rights; and that under no circumstances, nor at any time, have those advances been taken into account by this so-called Group of Experts.

It is evident in the reports prepared by these groups, the same tone, the same content and even the same wording of those who oppose the Government of Reconciliation and National Unity; therefore, for the Nicaraguan State, any update, report or statement lacks a minimum iota of credibility.

We are aware that these Groups will follow their agenda, but we are also aware that as long as our path is the well-being of thousands of Nicaraguans; we will not accept these self-proclaimed Human Rights experts, so they can use their unilateral and biased reports to issue unrealistic and irrational criteria about the reality of the Nicaraguan People, who are proud of so many achievements and advances in the field of Human Rights, such as, for example, the right to education, health, housing, fight against extreme poverty, legal, citizen and food security, protection of children, women, people with disabilities, the elderly; in short, of the sectors of the population in vulnerable situations.

We will continue to move forward, committed to our Government model, where people, family and community constitute the origin and the end of the State; to ensure the common good for all Nicaraguans.

Thank You.
