PRESS RELEASE
The Government of Reconciliation and National Unity of the Republic of Nicaragua, and Nicaragua's Families, wish to express our full support for the People's Republic of China, the Communist Party of China, its Government and the People of that Great Country, on the occasion of the presentation of the results of elections held yesterday on the island of Taiwan, which is beyond question an integral and inseparable part of the People's Republic of China.
We wholly concur with the Statement of the Taiwan Affairs Office of the State Council of China, which we copy below, expressing once again our identification with and recognition of the One-China Policy, our rejection of separatist acts and our support for all efforts for the realization of the great cause of the reunification of China.

English translation of the statement delivered by Comrade Chen Binhua, Spokesperson of the Taiwan Affairs Office of the State Council of the People's Republic of China:
“The results of the two elections in the Taiwan region show that the DPP does not represent the majority of public opinion on the island. Taiwan is the Taiwan of China. These elections cannot change the basic pattern and direction of cross-strait relations, nor can they change the common desire of compatriots on both sides of the strait to get closer and closer to each other, much less can they stop the general trend that the nation will eventually and inevitably reunify.
We have been consistent in our stance to resolve the Taiwan issue and achieve national reunification, and our will is as rock solid. We will adhere to the "92 Consensus" embodying the One-China Principle, resolutely oppose the separatist acts of "Taiwan independence” and the interference of external forces, and work with the relevant political parties, organizations and people from all walks of life in Taiwan, to promote cross-strait exchanges and cooperation, deepen cross-strait integration and development, jointly promote Chinese culture, promote the peaceful development of cross-strait relations and advance the great cause of the reunification of the patriotic nation.” (ENDS)
