President-Comandante Daniel receives Torch of Central American Liberty

Nicaraguan Youth; boys, girls, full of Love and full of Joy; students of these Blessed Lands, from those who are learning their alphabet, to those who are already finishing high school .
Also present here are the students in higher education, where later you, young high school students, will join as a Right, a Duty to the Nicaraguan People, to acquire more knowledge in the field that you decide. Health, Education, Communication, Construction, Engineering, all careers are available for Nicaragua's Youth, all, Medicine, Health, yes. They are available, as well as Secondary Education; education is free, education is an obligation of the State to guarantee, just like health care.
And this Torch that the Youth received, you received it in the area of the border with Honduras, there in your hands. And who handed over the Torch along with young Hondurans? It was handed over by a dear Compañera, Vice President of Honduras, Doris Gutiérrez, who we have known for many years there in the struggle where she gave battle for her People and for our People, giving battle, as Morazán did, for Central American unity.
This is an emblematic date for all of Central America, because in these days 167 years ago combats were already taking place against the Yankee invaders led by William Walker, when Nicaragua, joining efforts too with other Central American Peoples, Honduras, Costa Rica, El Salvador, Guatemala, all being convinced that if the Yankee took over Nicaragua, when already in these days 167 years ago the Yankee was already President of Nicaragua, William Walker, imagine that, the President of Nicaragua, accompanied by the Yankee Ambassador.
And, when that happened, the other Central American Peoples knew that he would later take over all of Central America and become President of Central America, and the first thing he would do in all those fraternal Peoples is what he had already done in Nicaragua: his first decree was to establish slavery, as a good imperialist.
And in these days there were already combats, there were already skirmishes taking place in different parts of our country, our Central American brothers and sisters were also fighting. It was an anti-Imperialist, anti-Expansionist unity that took place at that time, and it was finally possible to defeat the Yankee invader, as a result of that historical date now coming, which is the Battle of San Jacinto.
The Battle of San Jacinto inspired the Central American combatants, because they saw then that it was possible to defeat the Yankee, even with stones, as our Brother, our Hero, Andrés Castro, did.
Now, the Torch of Freedom is going to continue its journey and is now heading towards the area of Peñas Blancas, Costa Rica... Costa Rica that played a very important role in that battle and that had a Hero too, who died in that battle.
Costa Rica had, mind you, even though they say that there is no army in Costa Rica, they don't call it an army, but it does have a military force to defend the country in situations such as fighting drug trafficking... Costa Rica was the first country that, at the time of the Yankee invasion, had the best prepared army in Central America, and they had managed to develop a relationship with England, where the English gave them experience, gave them capabilities, and it was the most organized, best organized army in Central America.
Here in Nicaragua, instead, Nicaraguans were pitted against each other, Liberals against Conservatives. That can't happen again, it can't happen again. That is why, fighting for Peace and defending Peace, we guarantee, through education, because Peace is needed so that families can safely send their children to school; with more education, with more knowledge, with more culture, with more sport, then there will be no more conflicts between Nicaraguan brothers and sisters and Peace will reign forever.
