Don Debar, of New York's Community Public Radio, interviews Denis Moncada Colindres, Foreign Minister of Nicaragua, about the attempt by OAS Secretary General Luis Almagro to abuse the OAS Charter so as to attack Nicaragua. The context is that the recently approved NICA Act will have little immediate effect on Nicaragua, whereas if the OAS succeeds in expelling Nicaragua the resulting economic sanctions will take effect much more quickly.
The stakes are high for the US government because failure by Luis Almagro to get what his US owners want will demonstrate again, as it did in the case of Venezuela, the unquestionable decline of US power and influence in Latin America and the Caribbean, with the increase of the implicit threat of unilateral US military aggression against its target countries in the region. Here Foreign Minister Denis Moncada Colindres explains to Don and his listeners the reality of these illicit moves against Nicaragua in violation of the OAS charter.
