Return Guantánamo base to Cuba says Raúl Castro at CELAC Summit

“The re-establishment of diplomatic relations is the beginning of a process toward the normalisation of bilateral relations, but this will not be possible while the blockade remains in effect; the territory illegally occupied by the Guantánamo Naval Base is not returned; the radio and television broadcasts breaching international rules and regulations do not cease; and,adequate compensation is not paid to our people for the human and economic damages sustained.”

British Court of Appeal to hear René González visa appeal

Lawyers will have the opportunity to challenge the British government’s decision to refuse René González an entry visa following a recent court ruling. The decision comes after Rene Gonzalez was denied an entry visa to the UK despite being invited by 28 MPs.

Baby daughter for Gerardo and Adriana  

Baby daughter for Gerardo and Adriana

On 6 January a baby girl was born to Gerardo Hernández and Adriana Pérez. Gema Hernández Pérez was born at 8.30am in Havana weighing 7lb 7oz and was described by Cuban newspaper, Granma as “the product of the love shared by the couple, which has for 16 years survived a great distance and Gerardo’s unjust imprisonment in the United States.”
