Unless their perpetrators suffer some strategic defeat, NATO country crimes against humanity will continue until those countries' criminal leaders and their corporate masters plunge the planet into final catastrophe. Their profound evil perpetuates their societies' genocidal history of slavery and colonialism. Nothing absolves their complicity and criminal negligence in mass murder they have sanctioned and promoted against peoples around the world for decades.

The recent case of Edward Snowden has been remarkable not for the revelations about global spying by the United States government and its allies but for the sequel. Snowden's revelations confirmed events and trends anyone interested in global politics knew already from other sources. The sequel, with its unprecedented persecution of Snowden and anyone helping him, confirms that what  US social scientist C. Wright Mills back in 1956 called the US power elite has degenerated now into deep fascist dementia.

The faces that front for that elite – currently President Obama or, for example, Hillary Clinton, John Kerry, Susan Rice or Samantha Power - no longer function on the basis of everyday rationality. The US political, economic and media leadership now operate on an ever more bizarre set of false beliefs, bewildering even to their overseas allies. Nor should the mental anguish and confusion of people suffering from degenerative diseases of the brain be underestimated.

One much loved friend who died when her dementia destroyed the parts of the brain controlling appetite and the ability to swallow, used to believe her bed contained a floundering fish. She called it the “fishy bed”. In this friend's case, it was possible to relieve her anxieties and fears by calling Fr. Murty Byrne, a local parish priest. With prayer and holy water, he saw off the imagined demons that infested not only the fishy bed but also the attic and the trees across the field from the kitchen window.

President Obama and his owners in the US power elite suffer similar mental anguish as regards Latin America. Utterances on Latin America by completely discredited President Obama or the sinisterly absurd Samantha Power stem from the most egregious false beliefs. For example, Food-Stamp-Provider-in-Chief Barack Obama notes on Cuba “my hope is that the Cuban government begins to recognize that their system is no longer working”. But Cuba's revolutionary society, now integrated into Latin America and the Caribbean as never before, is more successful than ever, despite over fifty years of US economic sanctions.

Doped up to the eyeballs with their own Fox-CNN-Warner psy-warfare junk-information, US government child-killers extraordinaires like Obama, Clinton, Kerry, Rice and Power adjudicate to themselves the right to draw up global assassination lists. They eavesdrop on what anyone anywhere in the world says or writes. Leading dementia patient Samantha Power recently denounced repression in Venezuela – one of the most democratic countries in the world – at the same time as innocent Trayvon Martin's murder was vindicated by the racist US criminal injustice system.

So it is no surprise that the demented shells of human beings leading the NATO death machine threaten Venezuela with sanctions for granting asylum to Edward Snowden. Their rampant fishy bed dementia has destroyed whole countries from Palestine, to Iraq, to Libya, to Syria. The only remedy may well be prayer and holy water.
